This month is the annual Trees for Canterbury planting day at Travis.
This year is a milestone in Trees for Canterbury history, the one-millionth tree that they have donated to the community will be planted at Travis.
Meet at the education centre behind the Beach Rd carpark at 9:30am.
There will be a public planting of 1000 native plants at the Matai / Totara forest starting at 10 am.
At 12 noon there will be a ceremonial planting of the one-millionth tree in the area behind the Beach Rd carpark.
Invited dignitaries including the Prime Minister (or her representative), Lianne Dalziel, Garry Moore, The Green Effect Trust and staff members and volunteers of Trees for Canterbury will be in attendance.
All gear provided.
There will be a bar-b-q afterwards for all volunteers and guests.
